III. Function Security – Roles

Roles are a logical grouping of Permissions Lists and act as middle layer between permission lists and user profiles. A role can have one or more permission lists, and a permission list can be assigned to one or more roles. This modular design allows the security administrator to grant access to the user profiles by mix-and-match of permissions without having to add individual permission lists for each access variation required for the users.
